Therapy in Turkish – in Samsun and online
I am Mine Tosuner, a clinical psychologist working with adults, adolescents and couples. Deciding to start therapy is usually a decision people postpone for a long time, so the first session is not about placing you under a diagnostic label — it is about understanding what has been difficult, since when, and how it affects your daily life.
My work is based mainly on EMDR Therapy, Schema Therapy and Gottman Couples Therapy. All three are evidence-based approaches; at the end of the first assessment session we decide together which one fits your situation. Sometimes one method is enough, sometimes the approaches are combined as the work progresses.
I see clients face to face in Samsun, Türkiye. Everyone else — across Türkiye and in Europe and the United States — I see online. Sessions are conducted entirely in Turkish.
Areas I work in
EMDR Therapy
When the effect of a traumatic event persists years later, the memory may have remained unprocessed in the brain. EMDR targets exactly those memories.
Schema Therapy
The feeling of “I keep living the same relationship” points to early schemas that are still active today. Schema therapy works on those patterns.
Gottman Couples Therapy
Based on more than forty years of research, this method addresses how couples argue and how they stay connected.
Adult individual counselling
Anxiety, depressive symptoms, burnout, grief and loss, self-worth difficulties and life transitions.
Adolescent counselling
Difficulties of adolescence, school anxiety, peer relationships and sessions with parents.
MOXO attention test
Objective assessment of attention and concentration difficulties.
Online sessions in Turkish
Living outside Samsun does not have to limit your access to therapy. Video sessions last 50 minutes and technically require nothing more than a stable internet connection.
Comparative research on anxiety, depression and trauma shows no meaningful difference in effectiveness between online and in-person therapy; what matters is the therapeutic relationship and keeping sessions regular. Below you can go to the page for the country you live in.
How the therapy process works
Every step from your first message to keeping sessions regular. Use the tabs to see the detail.
It starts with an appointment request
The first step is a single message. When you write on WhatsApp, a short note about what you are looking for is enough — there is no long form to fill in and no need to explain everything up front.
In the same exchange we agree on a day and time that suits you. I tell you the current session fee at this stage, with no obligation.
- WhatsApp: +90 505 755 55 11
- You can also call
- Scheduling around the time difference for clients abroad
- Fee information is clear from the first message
An assessment and getting-to-know session
The first session is an assessment. We talk about what brought you here, how long it has been going on and how it affects your daily life.
The aim is not to place you under a diagnostic label but to make the picture visible together. At the end we clarify which approach fits and roughly how many sessions we are talking about.
- 50 minutes
- In person in Samsun, or by video
- History, current difficulty and goals
- A proposed approach and framework at the end
We choose the approach together
Rather than applying one method to everyone, I choose the approach that fits the picture. If the effect of a traumatic event persists, EMDR comes first; if lifelong relational patterns repeat, schema therapy; if the difficulty is the relationship itself, Gottman couples therapy.
Sometimes one method is enough, sometimes approaches are combined as the work progresses. This decision is not fixed — we review it together as we go.
- EMDR therapy — processing traumatic memories
- Schema therapy — working on early patterns
- Gottman couples therapy — evidence-based couples work
- MOXO attention test — objective attention assessment
Regular sessions and tracking progress
Consistency is the single most decisive variable in whether therapy works. Sessions usually run weekly; the interval can widen as the work progresses.
At regular points we review where we are: what has changed, what still weighs, and whether the goal needs updating. Even if you move city or country, you can continue with the same therapist from where you left off.
- Usually one session a week
- Wider intervals as progress is made
- Periodic reviews of the goal
- Uninterrupted continuation online if you move

Frequently asked questions
How do I book an appointment?
Message +90 505 755 55 11 on WhatsApp or use the contact page. We then agree on a day and time that suits you.
How long does a session last?
Individual sessions last 50 minutes. Couples sessions may be scheduled longer depending on the case.
Can I have sessions from abroad?
Yes. Sessions are held by video and conducted entirely in Turkish, with clients across Europe and the United States.
What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor and can prescribe medication. A clinical psychologist provides psychotherapy and does not prescribe. Where needed, I refer clients for a psychiatric assessment.
Which methods do you work with?
Mainly EMDR therapy, schema therapy and Gottman couples therapy, alongside adult and adolescent counselling and MOXO attention testing.
How many sessions will it take?
It depends on the situation. We can outline a rough framework at the end of the first assessment. A single traumatic event may respond to EMDR within a few sessions, while long-standing patterns take longer.
